Transferring website files over to GreenGeeks is easy using your Account Manager and our Migration Request Form.
Here are the steps you need to take.
Step 1. First make sure that your control panel logins are working.
Step 2. Login to your Account Manager at http://greengeeks.com/login/. Click on Support and select the Migration Request Form.
Step 3. Select the hosting service that you would like to request the migration for.
Step 4. In order for us to transfer your accounts from your current web hosting provider we will need some important information. Please provide us with the following information:
Migration Type: This is where you will tell us if the migration is from a cPanel or non-cPanel based web host. If your previous web host is using cPanel, we will be able to create backups and restore them on our system for the easiest transfer of email, website files, and databases. Please contact your current web host if you are unsure of which panel they are using.
Have Backups Been Created: If you have selected a cPanel based migration, have you already created and uploaded those backups to your GreenGeeks account for us to restore? If you have, let us know where the backups are, and what the file names for those backups are.
Step 5. You will need to provide us with the following information:
Current Web Host: i.e SingleHop
Control Panel URL: i.e www.domain.com/cpanel
FTP Hostname: i.e. ftp.domain.com
Account Username / Password
Additional Instructions: If you have any additional instructions for us such as a particular folder you want moved or database, please provide it here.
Step 3. Our customer service representatives will get to your request and will email you back within 24-48 hours. Delays may be caused by slow upload speed by your current web hosting provider. One of our representatives will reply to your email once we have completed the web site file transfer.
**PLEASE NOTE** Please do not change your DNS settings nor request to have your DNS changed to our servers until your web site files and emails have been uploaded by you or by one of our representatives to our servers otherwise it will cause your web site to go down.
